BSH Stage 2 PCV
« on: 27 April 2009, 20:47 »
Seems that not many people have the BSH stage 2 pcv fix on these forums. Looking to go stage 2 soon and want to sort out the PCV if it breaks. What are you stage 2 guys using?

I'm not using anything and I'm stage 2+ on the Edition 30. It is a decent "preventative" measure (a little like getting a Forge DV), but doesn't the BSH fix mean that you can't refit the OEM engine cover?

That statement is incorrect. The kit can be made to fit with the oem engine cover.

Bacillus, you've done the PCV fix haven't you?

I know the fix makes the PCV obsolete and removes the possibility of pressure leakage, but are there any other benefits?

Whoops, didnt think it could fit. Im not using the cover anyway

Are the many benefits from it? Is it really worth it?

The stage 2 fix is expensive for what you get. However the fsi engine recirculates alot of oil and petrol vapours from the engine and much of the oil vapour condenses in the IC. Not really something you want happening.

The oil vapours that make it through the IC have a tendency to coat the intake valves making air flow turbelent into the cylinders as the deposits build up.

The catch can minimises both the IC condensation and oily deposits on the intake valves thus making it a good preventive fix if you want to keep your car running at its peak.

Seems that its worth buying. Does this completely eliminate the PCV, what was the purpose of it anyway?

Another question , where did you mount the catch can? The instructions have mounted it where our carbon emissions thing is on the UK model.
