Wannabe detailer seeking advice...
« on: 27 April 2009, 19:30 »
lol, went to halfrauds, 3 for 2 weekend bargain, picked up some bits to help me on my way, anyone give me any advice on what else i need to get, what i shouldn't have bought etc... Got my autosol for the exhaust tips, a tidy microfibre mit, what appeared to be decent shampoo, i really am clueless...lol Particularly tips on polish and wax etc. cheers!

Hmmm....I've posted before about what you can buy from halfrauds.

Shampoo: The AG shampoo is okay, though I've been recommended Megs Gold Class Shampoo
Clay: Megs smooth surface clay kit
Polish: AG super resin polish
Wax: AG HD wax, otherwise megs next gen car wax

Microfibre cloths can be bought from tescos £2 for 2.
Buckets - get two different coloured ones
Tyres - either turtlewax nanotech tyre gel (my fave) or megs endurance tyre gel (purple stuff).

2 different coloured buckets.
I use Autowash as the shampoo.
I have a wash mit, but will be buying a second - so I can use one for the lower parts of the car, and the other for the top of the car.
Waffle Weave drying towel.
Lots of MF Cloths - only 10p each from Wilko's!!
Megs Endurance Tyre Gel
I have some spray wax - Ive forgotten the name though, will check when I get home (starts with an S!) - which I thought was fantastic!
Autosol for exhaust

Will probably pick up the AutoGlym Glass cleaner for the windows etc.
Also need to get some 00 wire wool to use with the Autosol for the exhaust.
Need to buy some stuff for the leather as well....

Thats all I can remember from the top of my head!
