I know theres a relay trick for the mfa but not sure whether this also may relate to the clocks?

Worth researching mate and pulling the don dizzler

do you know off hand if they are controlled via a relay?

I should know this Im an electrician however no car expert haha, the clocks are easy enough to get out to inspect, may be worth the time if all else fails as a genuine clock set up is always a good thing to have when selling on

its a q reg anyhows that i brought back from the dead so any any issue tbh lol the clocks have been out and to be honest the speedo could just go round and round and round and round, never wanting to return to the start lol, so i can clearly put it down to being well and truely scrap lol, as for the relay ad i aint a clue to be honest ive just had the car nearly a shell and it never crossed my mind as to what was what! i just put back everything that came off unless i changed or uprated

Try disconnecting the lift pump plug, and bridging ta wire between the purple wire and a brown wire, this should make the fuel gauge shoot to max.  If that doesnt work pull the clocks out and check round the back of the fuel gauge, it should be held to the clocks with small nuts, these also provide the electrical path to the pcb so if either of the nuts is loose or missing then it wont work right.  You could try another fuel gauge, or just swap another set o clocks in!
the speedo probably just needs throwin in the bin and replacing, not really much you can do to fix em :(

theres no relay for the dash :)
