Is this white worm?
« on: 27 April 2009, 16:26 »
Spotted it on the centre caps when i bought the car but seeing as it's under warranty didn't think it would be a huge problem.

Yeap, will need new centre caps. Should really have got them to sort it out before you picked up the car, but never mind.

Give them and call and say you want new centre caps. If you use the word "white worm" you might scare them into making them think you know what your talking about (Im not saying you dont lol, you know what I mean)

After waiting 6 weeks for the car i wasn't waiting any longer! lol, is it just the centre caps that are replaced then? The boot is fine as it's the newer raised style.

lol you make a valid point which is fair enough. Yeah its just the centre caps. For what they are they aren't particularly cheap. This set on ebay is £26 delivered:

Im not 100% sure, but I think it is as whiteworm is a known issue / fault with VW.

I had all four of mine replaced under warranty just before it ran out. I took the car in without booking and they fitted them straight away. Mine looked much worse than that, pretty bad quality really.

I had to buy mine as vw checked an apparently the wheels on my car at the time were not the originals....don't really see that should have mattered mind you as it was the centre caps that were faulty, not the wheels. Anyway cost £4.95 each from dealer. I got my tailgate replaced at the time under warranty, the original was the smooth and they replaced it with the raised.

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)
