R-Tech,   If you do get enough numbers to come up to Scotland,  give me a shout ( hopefully have the cash then )...  You lads have a good rep so I'd prefer one of you lot to map it....

On another note...  Regarding high chance of clutch/flywheel fecking after remap ;

Been thinking this one over a bit,  now my car is the 150bhp AGU, after a remap I'm looking at 185>190bhp max....
Here's the question is the clutch/fywheel on my AGU not the same as an early 180bhp GTi ?
If so then it should handle a remap without problems,  not much difference between 180bhp and 185+.....

Or is it the torque that buggers it up ?

Thanks lads...

Yeah, torque is the turning force of the flywheel.

TBH, if driven sensibly, there's no reason why it shouldn't have virtually the same clutch life  (especially on stage 1 AGU).

I managed to get ~70k from my clutch - 40k of them remapped with a couple of track days thrown in. ;)

Hi Mike,  thanks for that...  how did you find the improvement ? ( edited: re-read your post -BIG improvement duh....nice one m8 )

I've been thinking more about this - was going to buy the BlueFin off ebay then get it reprogrammed by Superchips,  however I sent an email to Superchips for a price to reprogramme.  Unfortunately they don't supply BlueFin remap for MK4 Golf,  only MK5 and above.

Only got one option left really - Revo ( which I'm happy about, good name for themselves etc.. ) and their sort of close to me ( highland branch in Inverness )

Star performance sounds like their pretty sh!t hot !  hope your happy with the results

Did you install a Forge 007p first ?  Ordered mine today off fleebay,  should get the remap next month

Cheers bud

Ok pretty pissed off now,  I emailed Revo for a price as their website now only displays in euros....  reply - £349 + vat....  christ a few weeks ago it was only £290ish inc vat...

Aww well,  not getting it done now ( for a while anyway )

Now I know everyone here recommends Rtech or Revo and I can understand why - but due to location ( and Revos price ) I'm kinda screwed but has anyone tried the KWP2000 of ebay - works with Golf 1.8t ME7.5 ( what's the ME7.5 mean ? )
Any thought ?

Hello,

The tool on ebay will work with the AUM/AUQ ecus, only if you can get the special me7.5 software add on, but once you can read and write the ecu you will find it hard to get a good remap file sent you which will please you AND your car.

Your AGU will be running the M3.3 ecu which NO obd tool can read, the only way to read your ecu is to take the chip out. There are a handful of tools, like MPPS and SPI wizard which can remap your ecu via the OBD port using the L-line+12v protocol.  Most companies will have to remove the chip to remap the ecu.  I know, AMD, Custom Code Revo & R-Tech can remap the ecu via obd due to them having invested in the correct tools.

If your woried about posting your ecu you could always PM RevoKev on this forum and explain your situation and see if you can twist his arm fo some discount in return for a review..

If your thinking of a postal remap you will need to have your car checked out via vagcom before sending the ecu to us.  I am sure there will be someone local to you will have vagcom they can lend you.
