My assumption is that this forum is just a chat site and I believe there could be no problem in putting on a brand name.
I would appreciate it if you would name the valve lifter product.
I'm sure if there is a problem naming it the forum would not allow it to be posted!!

i have something similar with my 2.0 TDI engine. it's only when out of gear with the clutch lifted (pedal not pressed)
is this the same thing?   :huh:

Afternoon all,

resurecting this thread, does anyone else own a 1.6 FSI MK5 golf that makes a diesel sound on startup. Am pretty sure it is the cam chain tensioner, and wondered if anyone else has resolved it by doing an engine flush as per the recommendation on this post?

Isn't really any way round it unfortunately. I had the same problem with a 1.4 TSI. You can just ignore the noise but eventually the chain will jump a cog and wreck the engine. So its essentially either an expensive bill now, or ever more expensive bill in the future  :sad:
