And don't say with paint!

Do they need sanding smooth or is there a way of coating them so that they are smooth?

Any help appreciated, Cheers

ideally as they have so to speak a rough feel to them they can be smoothed but you will need to use 'plastic' primer firstly this can be clear or red coloured and this allows the paint to flex and bond to the primer after the plastic primer you can use 'filler primer'(grey) which when rubbed down will make the plastic all smooth and then its a case of apply your colour basecoat and laquer  hth
