BIG "thumbs up"............... to a VW dealer!!!
« on: 25 April 2009, 16:44 »
Cheltenham VW. Great service today :)

Popped over to see a GTI. Tornado Red, 29K on the clock, cloth interior and 17s. All for £14K.

Couldn't do a deal, as I'm being picky and the combo of 17s and cloth with no extras... seemed like a lot for what it was.

However, the salesman and the finance bloke was FANTASTIC - some really good offers too. Just not enough to justify settling for a car that I wasn't 100% in love with. Nice but not enough to justify the extra expense (my limit was really £12/3 K)
PCP worked out VERY competitive, so I'm happy about the overall figures (something that no other dealer could provide me with) - just need to find the right car (well, the dealer does!!LOL!)

Most happy and impressed.

They can be very flexable and competitive at nearly 14k for a 06 reg. WAY OVERPRICED!
GTI manual PP, now sold  :-(

hi dan what year was that on mate? i bought my 2006 3dr silver gti 8 weeks ago from chester stealers 37k, cloth interior, 17s etc 1 owner full vw history and 13 month warranty, lovely condition £10,400 seemed like a bargain to me, i even haggled with the sales fella for some free mats, fuel, road tax, a up to date service, full valet and got a slip from him entitling me to a free 1st mot when its due which i used last week, more than happy with that

TBH, I thought it was overpriced, but if you look at the used VW site, with the exception of a couple of cars, (that had half the mileage), they're all about the same price.

I had also anticipated a more favourable p/ex price, but these combined factors resulted in not going ahead.

Still, good service from a VW dealer - this is what impressed me most!!LOL!!

Like others said.... very very over priced!! Good to hear the dealers were up to scratch but with a possible profit of 4k even I would be nice to you

I think you will find that VW Dealers are reacting to the Market. 2nd hand R32's & GTi's are selling very quickly at the moment and the market seems to have picked up. So Dealers are just one step ahead, keep an eye on the market and you will see the 2nd hand prices starting to creep up.

^^^^ i agree they have picked up a little but certain spec and low miles are selling quick, but don't get caught out they will soon drop when the mk6 gti comes out. Still way overpriced imo 14k for a 3 year old gti, thats about 70% of its original value, all i can say is shop around and do your research there is a few people out their trying it on.

What got me thinking was this - there's even an 07 ED30 for £1000 more with less miles..... HERE

Kinda puts it into perspective really!!

The key thing from yesterday was that I've now got ballpark AND specific figures to work on...
