GTi clocks into 1300?

Can anybody shed some light on putting GTi clocks into my 1990 1.3? Apparently its a straight forward swap but just to make sure can anyone here enlighten me?

Also whats involved in changing the clocks mileage to the actual milage of my car?

Right, this is most likely going to need correcting, but I may finally have it right  :

The clocks will be a straight swap, but there are two types of clocks: single and twin plug. If you're hazard switch is in the centre of the dash, you'll have the twin plugs, if you have the hazard switch on top of the steering column, then you have single plugs.

Notice the black plug (bottom left sticky out bit, second pic) missing on the first pic.

With the mileage, I believe there are pins on the back of the clocks that can be jabbed to change the mileage

Don't hold me to this, I'm pretty sure I'm right, but wait for someone to confirm before spending yor money lol

Yeah my hazard switch is on top of my steering column so i will need the single pin 120mph clocks. When you say a straight swap, will the revometer just work as normal and be correct when they are fitted? All good if you can change the milage fairly easy too as i want to keep my low mileage on the clocks.

What you do is you get the double plug clocks with the rev counter and MFA. Wire in the MFA if you want it, or it will just be a digital clock... Then, take your speedo out of the old clocks, and put them in the new clocks. You then put the new clocks in, with your old speedo. Done it myself, so i know it works, I have a motometer speedo and vdo rev counter, so you can mix and match too.

hi guys i just bought a golf mk2 1300 and i have the same prob... i would like to find gti diles as i will need a rev counter further on. any help? also if anyone has any ideas on mods that will help too

I don't know what mods you're after, but if you check out Metal Monkey (google it) they have kits so you can make your dials backlit tho if I remember, they only do 140 and 160mph clocks

id sweap over the speedo so you keep the milage, plus I think the 1.3 speedo might be calibrated differently? not sure if the 1.3 speedo spins at the same rate as the big block ones, the part numbers are definitly different. 
and yes the rev counter will work out of the box and be correct, mfa will only work as a clock though, but with some effort you could wire it in
