Hi all...

just brought a damaged golf gti

and now im basically looking for parts, i wanted to ask if any one knows are the gti only parts? or can any mk5 parts can be used?

i know i need a gti bumper.. gti headlamps.. gti front panel and bumper bar

but i would have thought wings? bonnet would be the same?

also the radiators? are they different to the 2.0 tdis etc?

any advice would be brilliant, and if any one has any parts they want to sell please let me know, thanks guys

from what i know the wings and bonnet are the same. You might want to take it to a local garage as they are more likely to be able to tell you the full extent of the damage rather than just the cosmetic stuff

Pictures may also be useful as its alot easier to see damaged that to be told about it... you may also find a few people from here who are willing to let you have their old bits as alot have changed for after market bits.

I think there could be a difference in strut diameter or something like that in the suspension. I remember looking at coilovers and the mk5 coilovers were offered in I think 50mm and 55mm diameter.
Not low enough mk5
Not on the road enough mk3

Wouldnt the wings also be slighlty wider then a standard Golf?
i dont know why, but when I look at a GTI, and then at a standard Golf, the GTi always looks a little wider to me! Maybe its just a visual thing.....
Sorry I cant be more precise with an answer! But best double check before you spend money on any parts that dont fit properly!

It would be good to see pics of the car before you do anything, and updates on your progress, by the way ;)
I'd be interested to see how you progress.

i've found out at the bonnet and wings are the same, so im just trying to find some in black now, i know they wont match, but at least the insides wont need spraying, il get them blown over after

todays find.. r32 radiator.. i was going to go for a gt tdi one, all the rads look the same, vw aint got a clue them selves, but ive found out that the layout on the r32 and gti is the same, as to when it comes to putting the car togther, as the bumper carriers, front panel and bumper bar as the same on gti and r32 (uses same bumper, different grills) if it dont work il have a r32 rad set for sale :) if i win the bidding lol

more updates to follow tommorow, and pictures by the evening guys!

I sold a Touran TDI intercooler today and noticed its the same for the GTI AXX engine, didn't look for BWA as I don't have one.

Get yourself registered on vagcat.com, the catalogue only goes up to MY05 but that answers most questions.

car hasnt been able to come today due to some problems on there half with the delivery! :(

no one know about whats missing from the picture?

ive found out today that the r32 rads wont work, and i doubt gt tdi ones will either, however 1.4 tsi (gt etc) they will fit!

and that the airbox is the engine cover :s and vw want £171 for it! i know that will go over that huge engine space in the picture, but is there anything that goes there? any advice would be brilliant

i also went to the dealers and had a mess around with a gti and looked under the bonnet, but i couldnt make much out to be honest

You're missing the air intake.

The engine cover has an air filter and an extension for the air intake, which you're also missing.
