Another Petrol headed Girl
« on: 22 April 2009, 08:47 »
Don't think I've said hello to every one on here,

Iam NIRO (aka Rachel) and I am new to VW's having had Classic mini's since I was 17. I am still heavily into the classic mini and I am currently restoring my 94 1275 Mayfair (with a few tweeks )

I am a DIY machanic with good knowledge of minis so a new engine to learn here, I am really into Detailing but not a concours entriant just yet

Anyways I wanted a good everyday runner and my mum had just brought a new mark 5 Golf FSI so her 10 yr old mark 4 Black GTi was up for grabs. One careful lady owner with a few scratches. 60k on the clock FSH, well..........I am hooked Bloody good cars these and I love it.
So happy there is a forum for GTi lovers and will be a regular on here from now on.

There's not a real lot I want to change on the GTi just a few homely touches, I've replaced the areial with a stubbie type one in black, its now got the anni grille badge 'GTI' which looks the dogs doo dars,

I might replace the alloys but what do people think of VW sporting Audi alloys as I love the 18" TT alloys that look like old pram wheels ???

Any way heres a pic:

Cheers

welcome.  Don't go the TT wheel route as it's all been done before.  Theres loads more choices that'll make you stand out for the right reasons.

Welcome aboard Rachel. I'm an ex mini person as well, used to do all the shows and had one of mine featured in Mini Mag. Moved to dubs a few years ago and never looked back although I still love minis, my wife has a 30K mile 1979 850cc City as her daily.

Mrs Horney's mini

Nice! I never got round to doing the Dales Run but I always fancied it. Moorland and Coastal was always a good crack. My Mrs used to live up in Huddersfield and I'm pretty sure she was a member of Northernminis for a while. I used to hang out (well help set up) Minifinity.com and I still see loads of my old mini mates but most of us have moved on these days. I'm going to do a couple of mini shows this year though as it's mini 50 and it would be rude not to.
