You'd be able to get them changed for about half that price. They must be short of work. On the other hand why not be cheeky and offer them less money to do it you never know??

I went to VW last week to get my key coded. AFTER they had coded my key they came out with the biggest list of repairs that needed doing to my car - around £1500 VAT and labour included.

I was MORTIFIED. No way would i be paying that!

So, i got a mechanic to check every single problem on the car. Only 1 were they telling the truth about but they made it sound 100 times worse - BROKEN off-side rear spring. But it isnt actually broken. The tiniest, not even half a finger in length bit of the spring is damaged. I.E its not worth replacing because its safe.

I havent had much experience with dealers but from now on i'll only be going through them if i have to, seem to have much more luck and better service with independant garages.

40 quid for key coding. NO remote locking :/

Said that exhaust needed replacing (its got the TINIEST hole in it known to man)
off-side rear spring broken
CV Boot f**ked
loads more...cant remember off-hand cant find the list they gave me but it was silly.

The annoying thing is i know a girl who works at this VW, and she wasnt there on that day. Bet if she was and i'd gone through her my car would've had few if no problems :p

You can program remote locking yourself, can't remember how to do it off hand but its in the standard manuals that come with the car.

If not I'm sure theres a link on here somewhere!

I got told about 26 quid from VW by me (thats probs without VAT) to code a key.

Spose times are hard at VW, mine is closed on Sundays now - still no excuse to rip you off tho.

U should name n shame the dealership

only applies if your car has lost sync with the central locking system - if its lost its coding with the immobiliser than only a copy of VAG COM can help you out

So dropped my car off to Vee W services this morning to get the bushes done, all good dropped the car off said to come pick it up at lunch time no worries,

just had a call from the garage and basically they have just advised me that the the brake pads on teh rear passengerside are pretty low and need to be replaced asap, they said would need new disks and pads on the rear and when i asked how mcuh i would be lookign at to get that done (not today) said it would be £130  any suggestions on what disks and pads to buy?

yet another thing that NEEDS to be done as if they are shaggged not only will i not stop but wont pass the MOT when it comes around, better i find out now i guess rather than when i end up in a bush or worse

Know how you feel, my cars exactly the same    Ive got about 5 jobs on my to-do list
I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...
