Hoping so, £250 of an increase seems a bit steep to me.

I went on confused.com and was suprised at the low quotes from elephant and admiral - went with admiral in the end, 2001 1.8t with me (27) 7 year no claims and the wife (24) who only passed her test 4 months ago! it was £320 fully comp with protected no claims.
Wish I could of have a car like this 4 months after passing my test!

51 mk4 gti 1.8t AUM | 05 Audi A3 3.2 Quattro S-Line | 01 A3 1.8t Sport | 02 Golf 25th Anni 1.8T | 03 mk4 GTI AUQ | 05 Leon Fr TDI 150 | mk2 golf gti 8v | 01 Audi S3
Back in my old MK4 '01 AUM!

Elephant and Admiral were cheapest for me.  Without the remap the insurance was only £440 which seemed pretty good.  I checked the ecu/chip mod box and admiral went up to £490.  Again, not bad but it seems the box was only covering a 10% increase :( hit the correct box once I get to the admiral website and the insurance jumps to £691 :( for 12 months and £590 for 10 months. 26 here with 2 years no claims.

The car looks identical to your as well mike.
