Tappets on a vr6 ??

when my vr6 is cold and i start it up , i get a rattling noise for bout 2 seconds then it goes away dosnt sound like the chain  . have changed oil but cant work out what it is , any ideas ? tappet gone ? oil pump ? any body had the same prob ?

I would say cam follower or chain.

Hydraulic tappets do take a while to quieten as oil pressure needs to build. If its only a short time then I'd say its normal.

yeh mines a bit rattly on start up soon dissapears when the oils chucked round the engine :)

Tiz normal!  Only need to worry if its constant.   All of my MK3s do it.  :smiley:
