Yet more problems

When I am slowly reversing out of the drive steering full left then pulling forward steering full right I can here a knocking noise, i assume it something associated with the steering but seems to be coming from the rear left but can't confirm this.

What are the first checks and techniques I should do to find where this is coming from?

Usually knocking noises which occur on full lock and when changing direction (i.e. backwards/forwards) can be attributed to worn C.V. joints on your driveshafts.
To check these find a quiet spot in a car park and do a few full-lock turns, one way then the other, forwards and reverse. If you have a worn joint it will usually show up as a clicking or knocking during this test. Also try to put down a bit of power while doing the test as this will show up joints with only slight wear.

Thanks mate.  Is there a test i can do when the car is jacked up? My hearing aint to good also what damage or effects can happen if I keep on driving?

Check that your exhaust is not hitting anything

As 6 says you might wanna check your exhaust clearances especially if you really think the noise is coming from the rear. C.V. joints are a tough thing to diagnose really other than noises on the road. I suppose you could get hold of the actual driveshaft and make sure there isn't any play in the joint. Check to make sure the gaiters aren't split. See if the gaiters have been replaced at some time. If they have the chances are the joint lost its grease long before the split gaiter was spotted and has suffered advanced wear as a result.
Another thing which can make a knocking sound is the ball joint below the front hub. With the wheel off the ground get hold of the top and bottom of the wheel and give it a wiggle, there shouldn't be any play.

You really need to identify exactly where the noise is coming from first though or it could turn into a bit of a wild goose chase.

Thanks, it could be the exhaust, I did notice a rubber missing on it last night! I'll replace the rubbers and then see, then I'll do the checks you suggested.

i get the off weird noise comin off my car when im reversin on full lock and im near enough sure its knackered wishbone bushes in my case
