16v Metal water pipe
« on: 14 April 2009, 21:40 »
hi all,

Have had to give up for the night...run out of light :( have struggle changing the metal water pipe that runs from behind the oil filter and around the engine.
Ive undo all the hose and undo the bolts...so now the metal pipe moves freely...but i just cant which ever way i try to twist and turn get the mother out !!!!
Ive removed the oil filter and still will not come out, just catching when i try.
Car is mk2 16v 1991 - H reg.

im just thinking and do you need to undo and move out the way the warm up valve that bolts to the engine block ??
or radiator ? any tricks ??
I dont often give up...but that bugger beat me tonight :o
cheers

Jack it up HIGH and support the front of the car. Then lower the pipe out the bottom - its easy peasy.

thanks for the advice :) job is all done now, changed most the rubber hose with gen VW ones at the same time.
It needed me to take off the warm up valve, and came out easily, looks much better, old one was on its last legs.
Just want to change the fuel lines, to the braided type, fit the standard airbox, get some ronal bbs style alloys, and i will be happy, but before all that i need to book her in for MOT :o
