Remote Keys....
« on: 14 April 2009, 16:08 »
I got my keys re-programmed today (paid for by the previous owner ;) ).

However, I notice the following difference.......

My old key - press the unlock button once = all doors unlock as normal.
The new key - Press the unlock button once = only drivers door unlocks. Press unlock button twice = all doors unlock.

Which of the above two is 'normal'??

I asked the dealer why they were different, and he said it was probably down to the second key being brand new?
I thought both keys should operate the same??
Im wondering whether they re-programmed the second key, and didnt do the first as well?? I needed both done!

its a setting in vagcom isnt it? mine used to be 2 click open but changed it to 1 click as the 2 click is just plain annoying.

the 2 click method is 'normal'

The keys can be programmed individually, even down to remembering what the default air-con temp is set to.

I think the doors being unlocked can be set using the MFD

Sounds like the first key isn't programmed right!
On both my keys:1 click opens just the driver doors (this is a security measure so no one jumps in the passenger seat once your in).
2 clicks opens all doors!
This is like this on all my familys cars!

I rang the dealers, since one key opens all doors with a single click, while the other key opens all doors on 2 clicks. They said they knew it was a setting change, but usually you have one or the other - they had never come across a car where 1 key did one thing and the second key did another thing........

Or is it something I can do in the Highline display myself??

Ok, just checked on my Highline. The single door unlocking is switched OFF.
Yet it still works with one key and not the other!
lol
Will let the dealer have a look tomorrow....

Just come back from the dealers, who have sorted the problem by resetting one of the keys and re-programming again.
They said it was something I couldnt have done myself, so I didnt feel like a right plank ;)
