Fuel

So what fuel is everyone using?

I've been using Tesco Super Unleaded 99RON, as Tesco is pretty convenient for me (and I get clubcard points  )

From what I've read its pretty decent. Looking forward to hearing everyones views.

....

I've always used Shell. Mostly out of family loyalty - One of my relatives (my Godfather) was head of Shell in the Mediterranean.

So, nowadays it's exclusively V-Power and my car is tuned accordingly.

They do but uses bio-alcohol to get it up to the 99 ron mark unlike V-power.

Either Tesco 99 or Shell V-Power. Not noticed any difference between the two so far.

Started off using BP Ultimate, but then migrated as I did feel a positive difference using the top two over the BPU.

I've heard bad things about BP Ultimate 97 RON. A couple of Japanese scene friends won't go near the stuff after some scary knock readings.

I hear BP now do a 102 RON version of BP Ultimate now though which could be interesting.

I'm a shell V-Power man myself, but then only because there's one along the local commute.

BP have had this for some time now though not all garages carry it.

Since it's not a big seller, you should be aware that petrol octane drops with storage so if you do buy some, it may actually be lower octane than the advertised 102.

When I was a kid, Shell garages were everywhere, now I don't have one within 20 miles of home. I have only ever used Tesco or V-Power (when I can find it) and I can't tell the difference.
95 RON doesn't actually damage the engine does it? I was told by my dealer that they are only allowed to put 95 into any of their forecourt cars, so their demonstrators run 1000s of miles on the low octane.

I used optimax/v power for 3 years but have been using tesco 99 for the past few months. Car seems much smoother at low rev's so I've avoided v power since.  Unless i have no choice that is

Used V Power ... OK.

Changed to Tesco 99 ... seems smoother with a bit more bite at top end.

When rolling roaded on same RR with same map about 2 weeks apart FWIW the Tesco stuff was stronger and gave the grand total of 4bhp extra at the top end
