Well done ifti - like you I have to be strained to boiling point to go to those lengths also!

And yes, I would also watch them like hawks!

Take your business elsewhere also though once done - this is not going to be a one off thing

Ok, just had the air duct replaced.
I popped the bonnet and noticed the same clip etc - so I asked to see the old part.

He came out after a few mins and showed me the old part.
He said the part was changed because the end where the clip goes - the plastic had some SLIGHT marks etc! It was the most petty thing I had ever seen - no reason to replace the entire part at all!

Nevertheless, at least I didnt pay for it! I wont be going back theer again!

Glad it got all sorted, and hope you find a better dealer!

Although I have a full service history on my recent purchase, I think I will just go to an indy I know and trust and avoid the poor VW dealerships that seems commonplace :(

Im going to try the dealer where the car originally came from in future. Its about 10 miles out, but hopefully I'll get better service!

I got home and noticed a small scratch on the inside of the door frame, at the bottom where you get in/out of the car, by the Edition 30 strip. Took the car straight back to the dealer, who states he doesnt think the scratch was caused by them and will pass it on to his manager later today to decide. Not easily noticable as its on the inside of the frame when you open the door.

I dont know 100% if it was them, but Ive never noticed it before, and Im sure I would have done.

Dont think they are going to claim fault for it, so may touch it up with the paint stick I have and tell them I wont be a customer of theirs any longer!
Really frustrated with the service so far, and its only my first visit to the dealer!

Well done mate for hacking it out and getting it sorted with no damage to your wallet.  Like has been said go some where else in future...is there not an independant VW/Audi place local to you at all?

Well Done ifti!!

I'm the exact same (I began to think that my expectations of a dealer were too high - but thankfully not!!!)
I don't like having to lose my rag, because I do take my complaint all the way ("and I will reign down upon thee..." etc, etc......) especially when (a) I'm right, and (b) there is an injustice that I'm receiving!!!LOL!! :)

My experiences so far of VW dealers have been well documented on this BBS (and I still haven't got a car yet!), and the story ain't over either, but I'm sure I've found 2 GOOD dealers, well 1 for definite....maybe

One thing's for certain - NO VW dealer local to me will be having the pleasure of servicing business. An independent using OEM parts will have it. That I'm sure of.

And the JD power survey will be made aware of these experiences - perhaps a drop down the ranks as a result of their poor service will make them think a bit more.

That said, I can't wait to get mine, and SO FAR, the 2 dealers I have found to return a call, are doing the "do" - very helpful so far :)

Just annoying you have to go through this!! LOL!!!

Dan :)

Yup, cheers guys - I'll be looking for an independant that uses OEM parts. Im going to be keeping the car on a long term basis so Im not too bothered about full VW servicing history - as long as it has a full service history I still think it'll hold its value OK'ish!

Thanks for all the info an dhelp though guys. Really appreciate it.

Like I thought - the manager didnt bother getting back to me about the slight scratch inside the door frame. I'll touch it up myself - but do you think I should rub it in and contact them requesting they remove me from their database as I wont be going to them in future?? lol

Yes I do. I would also take a photo of it and email it to the dealer principal with a complaint stating that you're fuming with the poor service and whilst the "gesture of goodwill" was honoured, you didn't ask for the car to be scratched.

As a result of this action, you FORMALLY request to be removed from their database, and want to know what he/she is going to do about it.

You know exactly what the answer will be, but at least it's in writing.

Just my 2p - like I said in an earlier post, once I get my teeth into something like this, I get wound up!!!

Sorry your car's been buggered though :(

There ARE some good dealers, but they seem to be a bit hard to find (and depending how your face fits!)
