You would not believe how much this has been bugging me!

Everytime I filled with V-power the pump would constantly click off - it really did drive me nuts! I tried everything I could think of - twisting and angling the filler - I really did look like a deranged numptie.

Anyway last night as I drove into my usual Shell service station, I had to approach the pump from the other side as the it was pretty busy, but as I stood their waiting for the frustration to begin, the petrol just kept flowing!

I was a bit baffled, but then noticed that the floor slopes down to the right slightly (as sat in the car). With the petrol filler on the up side there wasn't a problem!

Being the nearest V-power supply I always use this Shell petrol station, so I will have to try it out on a level forecourt - and hopefully it is not just a design "feature" of hatchbacks as TT suggested. I suppose the angle tolerance may be less on a hatch though as I never had this problem on any of my other cars at the same place.

My sanity is restored :)

I thought I did mention that sloping fourcourts could cause issues with fueling!

I could never find the detailed reply you said you'd posted to my initial moan!! Where was it?

And for those that think I'm a loony - this really has been driving me mental - it would click off about 15 times during a fill unless I was super gentle with the trigger, and then it would take forever!

There is now peace in my life!

i had this problem with one specific pump at my local shell.

fine at all the other ones so i just avoided the problematic one.

they've now re done the whole forecourt with new pumps so no more probs.
