Vibrating accelerator

Any ideas what is causing my accelerator to vibrate?

Bit of background - I hit a pot hole the other day that resulted in a blow out (two slash like holes about an inch in the side wall).

The guy that replaced the two front tyres (yes I know they should now go on the back ;-)) stated that one of the wheels was very slightly buckled but nothing to worry about. Ever since then I have had a small, but constant vibration coming from the accelerator when the car is moving (no vibrations at stand atill). It doesn't seem to vary with speed, load etc- nothing from the steering wheel, or other pedals.

My first reaction was the wheel, but wouldn't that a) result in vibration through the steering wheel and b) vary with speed?

Its booked in the dealers in Swindon in a couple of weeks, would love to have some idea of the likely damage before going if poss.

with all due respect i'd get a new wheel!! that 'slight' buckle could mean a lot more damage within the wheel itself and lead to much more serious problems!!

can't help with the vibrating accelarator but for your own safety change the wheel!

The accelerator doesn't have any physical connections with any part of the drive as it is a "drive by wire" pedal. Any vibration you maybe feeling could be from any part of the engine/suspension/wheels etc that have a physical connection with the front section of the footwell. I'd be inclined to at least change the wheels to the rear of the car just to see if the vibration goes away from the pedal, so you can eliminate it as a possibility.

Yup, agree with all the above.  Swap your wheels front to rear.

Update - I have swapped the rears and fronts around. Defienetley an improvement, but i can still feel a slight vibration when cruising between 50 and 70. To be honest I don't know if the remaining vibration has always been there and I have just noticed it now hat i am looking for it

My gut feel is that this wasn't there before so will stick it in the dealers and see what they say!

on a slightly off topic note, i have noticed that on some roads the gti does make my fat belly jiggle. When driving down th same rad in my saxo my belly didn't jiggle at all. Driving the GTI makes me want to go to the gym.

Just take the wheels to a local friendly fitter. I quick pin on his balance machine and you'll see immediately which wheels are buckeled. I got my r32 copies checked for free. My advice get back to pot hole and take pics and send to council. I didn't, it cost me £150 for replacement asymmetric, then I went onto buy 4 new pescaras!!
