Can be easily checked! Just need to fit in car and drive it for a while, or run it stationary until hot. the take out and if warm all round they fine!

Or not.......Bought new one from VW, nice new clear/white one made in Germany......same problem
Cuts out after bout 10 mins, relay warms up.....fuel pump relay then goes click bout 3 times as it cuts out????
Cleaned TB out so its all shiney, all vac hoses seem fine+ when i disconect them it starts to die.
The small one from inlet manifold to end of fuel rail is unsplit+unclogged but the engine runs fine with or without it??
So now im thinking could still be ECU relay, new fuel relay is also duff, something up with fuel presure regulator?? if that is the thing on the end of the fuel rail that the vac hose joins to. but the relay clicks as cutting out+nothing comes up on vagcom so im still thinking a relay or something like that!!!!!!!
Cheers for all the help + sugestions guys

Us idiots?

Does sound expensive! Think when I got mine which was nearly 4 years ago it was about £16.
And yes the ECU was £11 inc VAT

Wouldnt buy the ECP ones!

Sorry man just noticed this, wasn't calling u guys idiots, just thought vw were misquoting.
Uve been realy helpful man cheers for the support!!

might just need new dizzy cap+rotor , found deposits on them, presume its the gap widening+causing deposits from the arcing??
Any suggestions welcomed!!

Yes that small bit of vac hose does run to the fpr, sure that vac hose controls it so it should have an effect on it if you remove it. Maybe it isn't working properly, try spraying abit of wd40 through it

Oh and vac hoses can look ok to the naked eye but they can suffer small cracks and can callapse when they get hot, i'd swap those 3 main ones for some silicone 3mm id, get that from the bay for a couple of £££'s.

As for relays, i'd stick to the stealers for them.
