Bluefin and warranty question ?

Hi all thinking of going bluefin stage 1 on my 2006 gti but still have 11 months warranty from the stealer, so will this be void if i remap or would they not no as someone said bluefin resets the flash counter whatever that is lol any info would be great thanks in advance, MATT oh and anyone no of any bluefin offers about at the mo?

Ring your stealer if worried about warranty. Most are fine as long as if you have a problem it is not related to remap e.g. diverter valve. If you want a good offer on bluefin check JKM performance website. Believe £ 390 incl delivery, great offer as 430 from superchips.

Bluefin does reset the flash counter to whatever it was before you used the device .... after the intial reflash which takes about 12 minutes there is a sequence of turning the ignition on and off whilst it resets it .... all instructions via the BF handset.  This info was via Superchips when I asked.  Now I have Bluefinned my Ed 30 it is exactly ike they said in application

How did it go with the dealer Matt? Just checked my bluefin box (£390 from JKM recieved the next day after ordering) and superchips offer a 1 year warranty for faults caused by the bluefin. This is ideal as if you have a snag your dealer won't cover then bluefin warranty gives peace of mind. Just waiting to get car back from service before i install remap, it's almost unbearable. Filling the time by planning my test route. Oh yeah, dealer fine with remapped cars as long as you let them know when servicing. It's more common than you think especially turbo diesels.

hi dunlop just spoke to stealers now and they seem to be fine with it aslong as a problem doesnt arise thats been directly caused by the bluefin etc and like you say we get a 12 month warranty from bluefin anyway so preety well covered between them both lol just got to contact the insurance now, let me no how the instalation process goes mate then il make a decision

oh no just rang churchill and they wont cover me for modifications as im only 24 and have to be over 25 not 25 for 10 months Now what shall i do get qoutes elsewhere or just forget to tell them wink wink

Try Greenlight - they don't seem to mind remaps ...

I would not recommend 'forgetting' to tell the insurer ....

Adrien flux is another popular insurer of tuned cars. Finally installed bluefin and the difference is certainly noticeable . Took about 20 mins for the unit to read my standard map, then another 15 for my PC to read the bluefin. Almost immediately superchips sent me a text saying my new map was ready to upload. Reconnected the bluefin and after another 10-15 mins the device said the new flash was uploaded to bluefin. I took the car for a 30 min drive so i could directly compare the 2 maps then stopped to upload the new map. This took about 20 mins, having to turn the ignition on and off about 5 times. Finally got the message to turn ignition off and and remove the bluefin. Job done. My face hurt after the drive back due to the constant grin. Don't expect huge aggresive surges of power, the bluefin map is very smooth with the power delivery very similar to standard, just more of it. 60 came up very quickly and when i jumped on the motorway i hit a ton before i knew it. Gonna have to be very careful now as the car just pulls and pulls. The hike in turbo boost is definitely noticeable. The other thing i have noticed is the car revs higher than it used to. That is to say, at idle it would sit at 800 rpm, now 900 and at 80mph would be under 3000 rpm, now about 3200. Can't wait to get a proper run on some of those cornish country roads.

sounds great dunlop glad your pleased with it, it sounds very straight forward and will deffo want this if can sor insurance etc cheers for the feedback on it matey
