Remap and insurance
« on: 04 April 2009, 13:56 »
Got my 1.8t the other week and im loving it, could love it alot more if i got it remapped but:

how does it effect your insurance?

How much more do you pay?

This should probably be on the insurance link but you boys seem to make more sense.

Cheers

Chris

Out of all my mods the remap is the only thing to put it up - 90 pounds extra IIRC

£375 fully comp - adrian flux - thats with 6 years no claims.

Previous poster is correct - its the increase in power that puts it up - (i'll have to let them no if i upgrade to a k03s ;) )

With AF though they said now I can do anything else I want to the car - wheels, suspension, brakes etc and it won't cost a penny more - good for the long term.

You'll struggle with main stream insurers though as they just look at the increase percentage - !50 bh to 200 = 33% - scares them all off. Pissed me off a bit 'cus if I had a TT they'd welcome me with open arms.
