No worries James - I *do* actually understand where you're coming from, there must be a great many people out there in the public world where a generalisation sticks.

I was only speaking from my own personal experience so far (I'm trying to find dealers that I can rely on - I'm sure there are many, I've just run into a few to start off with LOL!!! )

OK - some good news.

Got to the bottom of all the issues - and all it took was for 1 person to have a bit of a dig about

Turns out that yes, my car is an import from Audi Ireland.
When the car was imported, there was a mix up and the VIN written down was either 1 digit out or missed out on the paperwork!!!

All sorted now Got my p/ex price and all that!!! shame there's no sign of a car yet, but I'm patient!!

Dan, Unfortunately I feel you can't single out dealers, even specific ones, as its not necessarily them but the individuals they employ there that let you down. Sales people have a bad rep regardless of their area of work. I would only like to note that there are some helpful people out there and on this forum too.

My parts manager and his staff at my local dealer bend over backwards for me but I feel that as most of them all did their training on the MK2 Golf they absolutely love my motor more than the *newer tat* (their words) lol.

If you have any other worries or problems then feel free to ask many of us on here, there are some unhelpful ones but those like Caddy and myself are more than willing to help out.

I do actually accept that, but from the General Public's perspective, these are the people who we first have contact with as an introduction to the brand. Regardless of how good the dealership is, it's only as good as their weakest member (IMHO). It's such a shame that these (hopefully) minorities let the whole side down, as I'm sure that so much hard work can be undone so easily.
