I had to go out today ended up doing a 200 mile round trip i took the Gti with me not had it long few months now but i was well chuffed puls lie a train, 160k on the clock but full service history every tax disc from dy 1! nice bit of open road and it was fun but a big grin on my face!

I need to do a few bits on the car, any ideas i want to uprate the brackes new disc and pads,
want a new exhaust to wha you recomend? and lower it a touch.

Any ideas whats the best stuff to use thats out there?

what is it, 8v or 16v?? if its a 8v, put the 16v brakes on it, if its a valver go with the g60 brakes.
if u want a bigger grin, up the noise, get a decent air filter with the exhaust, save your pennies and get a stainless manifold, that will add a noticable difference to the performance

Its an 8v, induction kit good idea, K&N still good to go for or any other make?

my idea is to lower it with 15 inch wide wheels maybe and get it resprayed but keep it original looking else were but with a bit of poke behind it.

i like ure thinking, yeah 15" with about 40mm profile, not too wide though, 205 is probably as far as i would go.
well i just replaced my k&n with a hks and i will be putting my k&n back on as sooon as its cleaned, so id stick with them.
lower by 30mm possibly 40 but be carful of ure sump. or u get get relitavly subtle drop of 15-20 and get uprated top mounts wch will give a few more mm on the drop.
if u wanna keep the handling pretty, then get uprated bushes make it feel nice an tight. try tsr-performance.com

sweet, yeh i remeber reading ure mk3 project thread now. nop doubt ill spot the mk2, ive always got my eyes open for them. theyve all started cummin out for the summer now, theres few nice ones in lynn, thats why ive decided to rat mine. gonna strart matt blacking it soon though. ull hear it before u see it tho

Glad your enjoying your Golf 

A full Magnex stainless exhaust is a good un, only gives an extra couple of BHP at the top end but feels smoother through the rev's and sounds good, twin pipes at the back look fairly standard as well.

I run vented cross drilled discs but there's a strong argument for running grooved and drilled discs, unvented, if you drive really hard.

Pagid brake pads are very good as are EBC Green's, I run the standard 16v brake calipers and disc size but have mk3 calipers on the back as they don't rub or bind like the mk2 ones can.

A full poly bush kit will make a huge difference, and Eibach anti roll bars will make the car handle like nothing else.

Theres loads of shocks and springs avaliable and lots of debate as to which are best, I swear by Koni wheather they are Sports sprung damper kits or coilovers.

Get some damn good tyres on there as well, Toyo TR1's ?
