Fitted my decat and my bilstein  top mounts front and back

Also sorted my exhaust knocking noise and the fact the car was hunting on tick over

Well this morning was interesting....

After fitting my new top mounts yesterday I had only done one of the front wheels up finger tight, forgot to do it up properly. So this morning I got 200 yards down the road and two wheels nuts stripped their threads and the others feLloyd put so the wheel fell off...

Luckily I was going very slow so the hub fell into the rim and got jammed rather than completely fall off and trash my front end

Although I now have a big chunk out of the inside of my bbs splits :(

Lesson learnt,  double check your wheels lol

Busy day for the golf today... Fixed a previously bodged repair on the exhaust system where the downpipes meets the first silencer - the sleeve had worked it's way from the downpipe all the way into the silencer (somehow?!) so eventually got that out and then used another sleeve that actually fitted correctly between the two. No blowing exhaust now :)

Also replaced what looked like the original overflow pipe running from the top of the radiator to the header tank as it had dederiorated at the radiator end and was making me loose coolant by venting the steam out.

Then finally fixed my power steering squeel that it seems most mk2's love to have, the bolt on the adjuster wouldn't budge and the pulley could be turned by hand even with a new belt on so often slipped under heavy load - some persuasion with the trusty magic hammer finally moved the adjuster down to the right position and it's nice and tight now.

Hopefully, that'll be it fixing previous owner's bodged jobs.
