Had the cambelt and tensioner changed, sounds lovely now. Also bought a gearbox online.

Worked on it for the first time in ages today (been SORNd since Feb)
Planning on getting it back on the road in the next few weeks.

I only started by fixing the boot lock, which was fairly straight forward, the key wouldn't turn so I took it apart and flipped the barrel.

I then tried fixing my rear wiper - the spline on the motor has worn so it's bald and the nut had threaded so I need a new motor (because I can't seem to find the inner mechanism with the spline on the white cog for sale separately).

I then took the rear GTI badge off as it was starting to rust underneath in the holes it clips into, snapped the badge so need a new one of them now and I sanded and put kurust on the rust, will spray tomorrow.

Also got the alternator and inlet manifold/throttle body off the old seized engine that's been sitting in the garage for 19 months. Left the engine in the track by the garage for the pikeys  :lipsrsealed:

Stripped and regreased the electric window motor of my new golf so I now have two working electric windows, and replaced the wiring loom for the radio which the previous owner had so thoughtfully cut to pieces

Much nicer to be able to drive along listening to tunes with the window down!

pulled the dash apart in the daily and pulled the clocks out, need to find some new ones as the mileometer is well and truly dead.

Having languished in the unit for the last month+ it surprisingly sparked into life first turn of the key... Really should get it finished...

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.

Made it look half decent and took it to a show with the bus over the weekend.
