Bottled doing my engine mounts on the drive by myself. So - all 3 now replaced by a very stressed local mechanic who told me not to bring it back for mounts again... LOL.

1 hour quoted and 2 taken so we split the difference.

My wallet is lighter but a big job ticked off the list.

No more exhaust rattles in 1st and it feels loads better. Oddly, the clutch now bites further down the pedal too (it was very high).

Got some boot struts to make bonnet struts and fitted them, fitted a leather gearknob from a new polo so the Anni one will be up for sale shortly.

Drove from Bedford to Milton Keynes, pulling into the car park when suddenly, 'steam' billowing from under the bonnet. Hose between metal water pipe and water pump burst. Luckily gsf had one so went and picked it up and repaired it in the car park, those spring clips vw use are a nightmare.
