Hello from sunny Manchester - now with a MK2 GTI!
« on: 03 April 2009, 10:14 »
Hi there folks, i'm Daz from (near) Manchester. Might have lied about the sunny part lol

Great forum from what i've seen so far

A bit about myself and my car history:

Started off with a MK3 1.4 Golf as my first car, always wanted a Golf but because I had to build my no claims aswell it had to be something sensible. Never let me down and was so easy to work on. Here's how it looked around the time I came to sell it:

Next up I was going to get a MK3 GTI but i've always liked the BMW E36 coupe so plumped for one of these, a 1999 318is with the M Tech kit from factory. Did a fair amount of mods to it including full coilover suspension which made it handle like it was on rails!!

Sold the 318is and now in this, a 535d Sport. It's a great car but being an auto it's more of an A-B, point and squirt type car.

So why am I here?? Well I have an itch to get back in a Golf, particularly a MK2 GTI (16v). Looking to get one which isn't mint condition because that would be no fun   So i'm after something that needs a bit of attention and that I can work on myself and restore back to former glory hopefully!

Cheers,

Daz.

Got myself a MK2!

Here it is:

It's a 1988 GTI 16v, done 169k and only had 4 previous owners. So far i've identified it needs a new alternator and need to replace the ignition barrel as one of the keys snapped inside it
