thats the key i have. but i cannot get a blank one from ebay, only flip keys. does the 433/434mhz frequency thing only relate to cars with remote locking, or is it something to with the immobiliser?

Though i have this standard key, is the key blank on the flip key suitable to cut for my car?

Sorry for so many questions, just dont want to waste money buying the wrong key or doing the whole thing through the dealers!

My only problem would be that if i got a flip key i would have buttons for remote locking, but no remote locking! but ah well. and i imagine VW would ask for my life savings to fit that too!

That is the AK191 from here: http://www.hickleys.com/diagnostics/keys_list.php?manu=43 by the looks, £10 + VAT :afro:

If you got the flip key all it would do is unlock the car via the blade like the original key and the buttons wouldn't work. It could be coded to start the car. As you wouldn't be usingthe remote part the frequency wouldn't matter.
