Ignition timing settings

Hello! Could anyone tell me the ignition timing settings for a Mark 2 Golf Driver 1.6 Greg 5 gears.

selling it soon and would like to set the timing right, cannot be buying a Haynes manual for a ten minute use so looking for the angle before tdc at wich to set the timing

My Haynes only covers 1984 to 1988. The ignition timing for the 1.6 litre carburettor engine is: 17 to 19 deg BTDC.
If you're running on unleaded you may find it will pink in which case you will need to retard the ignition a little.
