I would go for a 60 / 40 H & R spring & shock set up, I had coilovers on my mk3 and the ride was shocking plus all the hassle of getting the car level.
I disagree, you can't tarnish all makes of coilover with the same brush.
Yes, you will no doubt be happy with the shocks and springs set up.
But H&R and one of the best in the game so I'm sure you'd be more than happy with their coilovers.
Plus you have that extra height adjustability.
Decent coilovers set to a reasonable height are another step up from a good shock and spring set up.
Maybe if the choice was between the shocks and springs, and budget coilovers, I'd say different.
Even then I've been in mates' cars set up uber low on cheapy cheap coilovers and I didn't find them uncomfortable at all
