Hello, was there a 1.9 Diesel?
« on: 29 March 2009, 23:54 »
Hello guys and gals.

My Mum came home from Bristol today saying her friends are 99% selling a MK2 Golf that has been owned by a posh older lady most of it's life, point being, it's a 1.9 Diesel, or so they say. I'm not sure of any other details atm, like colour etc but I was thinking, if it's in good nick, would it be worth grabbing, and then maybe eventually doing a conversion? I'd intend to get it looking sexy basically, keep it in my parents garage getting it upto scratch.

Price = £200 (I think). Thoughts?

Go for it! I'd absolutely LOVE a diesel mk2 and I'm sure alot of people would like one as I believe they're quite rare? I don't think they did a 1.9 diesel mk2 though.. that was the mk3. mk2 was a 1.6TD I think :)

+1
Diesel mk2s seem to change hands for silly money and if it's in good nick could be quids in. Check out Simon Coopers white mk2.

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.

I have a 1.6TD 5 door model with the incooler located on the top of the engine, which is the rare one. All of them were 1600 and the non turbo's were gutless. The TD is not a bad performer and returns excellent MPG. My on is the SD engine code and it has been a good little car.

It is in the for sale section for only £550! Absolute steal. Cash needed to fund my 328i Ragtop! :cool:

I'll ring them tomorrow and see what's what, might be worth buying, doing it up a bit and selling it on :)

1.9 AAZ TD from a G3 is an easy transplant and a better motor than the 1.6 GTD (RA or SB code) motors IMO - I've run both in T25s.

Personally I wouldn't bother trying to make money on cars at the moment, especially at this close-to-scrap end of the market.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
