I can't fault Hadwins VW, Lindale, South Lakes (yet).

My car was in a terrible state, the cloth seats caked in mud, paw marks over the dashboard and dog hairs everywhere.
After the service it was returned in showroom condition, inside and out, fantastic.
And the loan car was an '09 Jetta.

I'll be back there next year.
Currently digging a bunker.

LOL - bit of an update for you.
I was taking a friend to a job interview yesterday. We had some time to kill, so I thought I'd pay my local dealer a visit (taking the advice of some members on here to go and talk to them).......

Walked in, asked to speak to any of the sales team. Was questioned about who I wanted to talk to. I replied with well, I've now forgotten the name as it was coming up to six weeks ago since I was expecting a phone call! ;)

I was told that the team were all in a meeting and were too busy to come out to talk to me!!! <grin>
To say I was a little bit surprised would be an understatement.
Especially when she aksed me if I would like to wait until they came out (another 20-odd minutes!)
I declined her offer and left!!

Went over to the local Ford dealer (been semi-looking at a Focus ST-2)...... not ONE person came up to me. Kept me waiting for about 10 mins, whilst I stand there looking at the brochures. I managed to make eye contact with someone who then (IMHO grudgingly) looked into my inquiry.
The salesman was pretty useful when we got talking. Found me a car, but to drive it would COST me a deposit!!! The dealership didn't have an ST-2 in stock, and they would have to bring it down from Grimsby.....at my expense by the sound of it!! LOL!!

The other VW dealers haven't returned any calls at all, despite my constant calling last week.
One of the Audi dealers had a GTI - I inquired, and waited. And waited. And waited.

Then I had an email back from them!!!! :) Asking if I was happy with the sales service I'd had so far, and would I be proceeding with the deal?
I had to reply with that I would gladly comment on the service, once I'd actually had some!!!LOL!! :)

I also tried several Indy dealers, who advertised their large amounts of GTI stock. After speaking with them, it turns out that they don't have any in!!!LOL!!

I'm beginning to think it's me!!! :undecided:

In the meantime, I will keep looking as I'm keen to have a GTI. However, I fear it's a local thing and I may have to travel to get my car :(

Dan

ps also checked with HPI & DVLA about my car (to check there's nothing dodgy there), and as far as these two organisations are concerned, my car is spot on! :) which is nice :)

You should try BMW.

Its why I have loved owning a BMW - they are a class above. You get offered coffee by beautiful young ladies even if you are just window shopping, test drives whenever you want - and attentiveness by friendly and well presented sales staff.

The service you get also extends post sale, even for a straight forward £50 MOT I always got my car picked up, dropped off valeted inside and out. Its no wonder the 3 series now outsells the Mondeo - its well worth the extra cost when you get service like that.

I know it can be dealer dependent, but I have used 3 in my area, and all have been top notch

Different ones!

BUT before this turns into a total b1tch at the VW dealers, or sales men in general ;)
Any recommendations for good dealers?

I don't mind travelling too far to find the car I want.

Good uns!
Loders in Dorchester (RedRobins local) comes highly regarded.

Cookes of Fakenham (Norfolk) - no real deals on price, but do seem to hit all the right buttons for 'customer service.

Abridge (cant remember the exact one) somewhere in Essex - one of the few to find me an R32 DSG for test drive when they were first released.

Leicester VW - seemed great when my olds were buying their Golf Plus, and always kept them informed even after the sale (some probs due to DVLA cockup on cherished transfers)

Northgate VW, Bury St Edmunds - seemed very keen to chase a sale, and also seemed to want to offer a discount too.

Ones to avoid!
Wolsey in Ipswich - the salesman lied to me about a 2nd hand car on their fourcourt being an import (he told me it wasn't, when I knew from the spec that it was an import), and he literally thrashed the arse off a stone-cold engine - with a turbo!

Kings Lynn VW - made a right fcuk up of spraying my side sills (no primer at all, and hardly any clearcoat ), and told me they did warranty work to fix something when they didn't!
