I think that if they disqualify the team for life, that means the whole team and it's current members. Should any member of the team resurface in another team, the same sort of thing can happen. Once the line is crossed, it's easy to cross again.

2 year suspended ban.
Flav banned from motorsport for an unamed period.
Pat banned for 5 years.

So McLaren get a $100m fine for having some paperwork, renault walk away pretty much scot free for the biggest case of cheating to be put in front of the FIA ever.

"Oh no renault, please don't leave and take your money with you, I still love you even though you cheated on me." - Bernie. twit.

Shocking really if you think the punishments Mclaren had.

Not even a fine, and its all well and good saying it was flavos fault and now hes gone they shouldnt be punished, but F1 is a team game.

And i find it discraceful how piquet gets away scott free, bear in mind he could now be facing manslaughter charges if that accident got particularly nasty! (extreme example maybe, but trying to put it in perspective). Piquet should of had the sense to not do it and report them there and then, and not when it suited him.

To be fair the punishment should of been exlusion, but in the current climate that was never going to happen, and with there resignations, fair enough. But a big hefty fine should of been imposed as well as the suspended sentance. im afraid its another case of the FIA trying to keep the teams happy so they dont stray, and if reports are true that Renaults F1s plans are under threat, then a fine probably would of killed them off.

The reason for McLarens massive penalty was the fact they pleaded not guilty.
