Always use VPower from Shell. Do NOT put any cheap and nasty octane boosters in or anything like that.

May aswel just keep saving towards the milly and remap, nothing else that will really make a big difference. There is always the Carbonio or DBILAS intakes but your looking at well over £100 which could be going towards the milly or remap.

Like illyun said stick to decent fuel.
sorry but my vaux looks far better than the mk5 gti, thats why i bought it  faster too

Give it some wellie - seems the harder I drive the better the performance.  If you just pootle around for a few days it seems to get sluggish.

Is there any smaller parts on the car i can upgrade to allow the car to run better , or is it just a case of exhaust , air filter and the ecu.

The chassis should be your first port of call before you even think of adding extra power. Look at the brakes, suspension, tyres.

Better pads and disks then some good rubber will make a huge difference.

Komenda, where's your lovely car avatar gone?

As stated above, stick to 98+ RON - either V-power or Tescos 99-RON. Make sure the car's been serviced regularly and properly. Next stage is remap + exhaust + intake.
