get some 22 gauge steel and make it up, its fairly pliable so easy enough with the right skills/patience! any motor factors should sell it. 18 or 20 gauge would be too thick

I don't think a semi will give the same results

well ive got myself a welder with a welder lol, better source a fresh windscreen before i go poping mine out, im more worried about how hard thats gonna be to be fair.

is it not poosible to get a replacement panel and cut and weld it in because as you can see it extends right over to the wiper blade in the center of the window, i figure that the rare mk2 i find in the scrappy is gonna have the same problem anyway so its not worth looking

its not uncommon for them to rot a bit around the wiper blanks but thats the worst one ive seen. i doubt a panel company will offer a repair section for it, so you either cut-up an original or get some sheet steel

well took an angle grinder to her today, stone cutting disc didnt really help matters. any way i seem to be cutting A LOT of metal away and it might be hard to gets some welds in. but im gonna keep at it and see what happens if needs be ill be travelling around scrap yards looking for one that hasnt rotted out yet. plenty more pics to come, proabably tomorrow night after another sesh on the grinder and wire wheel.

will probably start uploading the mountain of pictures ive been collecting tomorrow. not looking good, nearside wing and door now removed. plenty more angle grinder action at the base of the A pillar, just cutting away anything rotten and wating for a verdict from someone more experienced as to whether its worth welding or not. getting pretty close to structural problems, but i really dont want to have to scrap it

Well she is pushing 22 now and I did leave the hole under the window for too long, it spread intovthe inner wing and rotted the bonnet hinge mount out. Today I found the same problem on the drivers side, so plenty of pictures which I will be doing tomorrow I promise. The woman keeps stealing my laptop.

I also started pulling the front assembly apart today in order to remove the engine to gain better access to the chasis rail rust. I'll also be overhauling the engine whilst she's out. Should have plenty of time as the body work is going to be a big job.

Ok, so catastrophic failure of the laptop today so I've only got my phone for internet now so pictures will have to wait now

Car update, removed battery and washer bottle in order to take the newly found rot under the battery.
