HID Install Process (Photos)
« on: 22 March 2009, 19:48 »
Ok so i really missed my xenons on my audi and never had enough time to find a gti with them . So i bough this HID conversion kit last week and installed it with my mechanic yesterday . Really happy with it so far looks great, but still in the back of mind i know there not real xenons and that bugs me .

Look wise they do look awesome and im like 90% happy with them.

As for the instructions that came with lol well there just a joke really.  There just generic for all cars not car specific so it took a bit of working out and a few phone calls to a irate guy at the company who got the wrong end of the stick and did get the hump with me a bit . but ive uploaded the pics of the box and the instructions and u can make ur own mind up as to whether there just impossible to understand to the average guy or im just a retard!!

Took my car down to mr nassa he dealt with a few of my mods before and does most, if not all service work on my cars

The kit and the instructions, clearly stating taking out the whole headlight (not needed)

The ballast and the box that stops the ecu from mesing about

Drill a hole in the lamp covering thread it all through

We had to doctor a few parts to fit through, but it all fit nicely afterwards.

Instead of the brackets was given opted for a easy access cable tie option to save screwing or drilling holes in the engine bay. Plus if i wanted to change back to original lights it would make it easy for me to do.

Few shots of my car and the lights by night which to be honest the camera doesnt do justice.

As long as you're aware HIDs are illegal....

They look ok. I wish I'd bought xenons - they make the headlights cool even during the day!

The sites that sell these kits usually say something about show-use only. Example: hids-direct.co.uk have this disclaimer on their website.

Quote
Technical information for HID Conversion kits

Please note that under UK regulations HID kits are not yet approved road legal, this is because HID kits are not e-marked approved in their entirety. Until EU regulations are changed or updated our HID kits are sold for off road and show use only.
