yep fair point on getting it scanned, I will get it done in the week sometime, I would be happy to have a go at doing it myself once I find out if it is this part!

do it yourself mate... its good to learn as much about your car as garages just rip you off... if you get stuck im only in hemel hempstead pop down 1 weekend with some tins of stella and ill help you out buddy

Thats a very kind offer thanks, am really liking this forum already and its only my second day lol!!  I will definately try and sort it myself, I hate throwing money at dealers!!!

if it goes wrong you have do half the job for them anyway so you will pay less

well popped into local garage today to book golf in for service and cambelt !! Whilst I was there got them to plug it in and check for faults but nothing showed up any where!  So no further forward with the remote not working issue!  Have also found that when I go to car in the morning and turn key in ignition there isnothing a all there but if I leave it turned aftera few seconds the engine turns over and starts  once its started for the first time it is fine, even after sat at work for 6 hours today it started first time when I left, any idea on this?! I hope I have not bought adodgyone as I really love the car!!

Hello all

Just thought I would post a quick update, had the cambelt and 90k service done on Friday and also mentioned the noise from the steering which I mentioned in the original post, they looked into it and found the pulley on the alternator belt was completely seized, aparantly it should act like a ratchet!  They replaced this and it is fine now, they also showed me the cambelt they removed and it was completely knackered, full of splits and very perished so am glad I had it done straight away!

yes indeed!  Cant believe the previous owner didnt get it done, is a bit odd as he had serive done every 10k religiously, I have all receipts too!  Never mind, I am glad it was in need of changing, doesnt make the money spent seem so bad lol!
