top up oil

I know there are many posts regarding the above but couldn't find an answer to my question... so

I bought a 1 litre bottle of quantum synta gold 5W-40, for my MkV Golf gti is this the correct oil???  After reading
all the posts im begining to think its not! Any help greatly appreciated.

Put Mobil 1 5W-30 ESP in mine, would be interested to hear everyone else's choices and experiences.

You just know that somewhere right now T_T just stopped whatever he was doing and got a shiver down his spine.

As previously mentioned here, Mobil1 is not semi-synthetic oil and apparently is mineral oil. It does not meet VW standards and should be avoided.

Honestly, just go to the dealers and get the right oil. It ain't expensive.

The Castrol oil is the best for your car.

Go elsewhere and get the oil changed. Otherwise I see premature engine failure.

5w-30 FULLY synthetic (castrol edge) and can be purchased from halfrauds, be interested to see how much mr dealer is charging as with most things i dont think it is cheap!

erk. just had a look on the bottle i've got in the garage and it does say approved for VW, Merc and BM.  :sad:

Does it say that it conforms to VW 502 standard?
