Air con question
« on: 20 March 2009, 12:19 »
Can someone who has climate controll in there car tell me how it should work.

If i set mine to 20deg for eg it never seems to cut in or out or anthing but surley it must be warmer than 20in the car. I have it on ECON if that makes a difference.

I take it if you have it on 20 when the inside of the car reaches that temp it should cut out then when it drops again it will kick back in is this correct ?

It won't be much warmer than 20 in the car at this time of year unless it's been sat in the sun all day. Try knocking it down to LO to make sure its still kicking out cold air.

Does the system go off all together or the fan speed up / slow down ?

if you keep pressing the - fan speed button the display will eventually display 'OFF'

in auto mode the fans will idle and you'll barely hear them once the car is at a stable temperature

You need to have it on Auto. If you have it on Econ you have effectively switched the Aircon off.
Mine is on Auto and the fan runs a bit faster as it getting the car to temperature but not a lot. In the summer when it 25oC outside and over 30oC inside the car, the fan goes up to max to get it cool inside.
I leave mine on 22oC on Auto all year round and just let it get on with it!

I thought the auto might have something to do with it. The thing that gets me with that is you will use more fuel because the air con is on. Most of the year we dont really need it on as its to cold.

Load of rubbish mate. The extra fuel used is minimal, plus with Climate control, the Aircon is switched on and off as required so as you say at this time of year its hardly running at all...

Not really. When the air con is running the car uses a noticeable more amount of fuel. Its a waste if you dont need it.

Thanks for your help tho at least i no when it should and shouldnt be working now cheers

Whats ECON then? isn't it the air-con or does climatronic just use air-con when you drop it low?
