DECAT
« on: 19 March 2009, 00:23 »
i posted a message out on thursday regarding doing a decat on my 1.8t, but i want to make sure i have the cat as a simple unit to put
back on when it comes to mots,i was going to do this decat by just using a straight pipe, but when i went the garage to get it done
they said that it would work fine, but the lamba sensor is too close for them to cut it off where i wanted it,

for example look at this link-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF-4-1-8T-GTI-20V-TURBO-DECAT-DOWNPIPE-DOWN-PIPE_W0QQitemZ120392797540QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item120392797540&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

where does the lamba sensor go?our cars have 2, one sensor near the manifold, and one just at the end of the cat going towards the rear of the car! on this image it is sealed?

anyone know of any simple, pretty cheap decat pipes for the 1.8t, im not wanting to spend alot, and preferebly with a whole in it
for the lamba sensor

thanks

iv e got one and they are not blanked off they unscrew so you can screw the 2nd sensor in its just so that its universal between the the AUG 1 sensor and the AUM 2 sensors, hope this helps.

If your want a cheap option get a nackerd cat front pipe and cat of another car, get the garage to cut the cat out and replace it with a length of pipe. The you have two front pipes, one with and one without. You can swap over for MOT. personaly i have been down the decat route before with my previous motor and it just becomes a pain every year
