On the track - what do people do....
« on: 18 March 2009, 22:04 »
...what do people do with the stuff they've stripped out of the car before they go on the track?  I expect to be taking some basic tools, spare wheels, jack etc out of the car when on the track, but what's to stop people nicking it all?!

Most people at organised track days are very reasonable and helpful and will lend you stuff rather than steal your stuff. Usualy only up to 50 cars at an organised trackday and not many Joe Public types hanging around.

Public days like Castle Combes Action Days are a differant story, lots and lots of people hanging around.

Saying that I have left my stuff about at Action Days and so far haven't lost anything yet. I take a lot of stuff and my wife reckons I have enough stuff to build another car.

I went to Cadwell in 07 and left a toolbox, a full set of spare wheels & tyres and various bits of car interior in the paddock area, and didnt have one bit stolen or go missing.

People are normally very very respectful your all there for the same reason and no-one will want to make a runner with your stuff

maybe take a small gazebo or somethin , helps with shelter if it rains leave your stuff under that and you will know were you are ,

can pick em up for next to nothin

Cheers guys, I suspected it may be down to trust at the end of the day.  I can always get some lockable boxes for the tools anyway, and this would keep things tidy for transportation.

Got a small 3x3 gazebo at home, no sides to it but would be useful on occasion.

Cheers

Tow the trailer queen there and put all the stuff in the tow car.

Or go with a couple of mates with one car that's not going on track.

As people have already said, there aren't normally lots of pikey types at track days - it's normally just the people doing the day, most of whom will lend you stuff and help out, rather than nicking stuff.

+£100 entry fee thins out any undesireable elements pretty effectively and the marshals and track staff are normally about keeping their efficious eyes on things.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
