« on: 18 July 2004, 18:25 »
Hi people, just wondered if any of you out there has had anything to do with big boys toys? I'm after a recon engine for my valver & they seem to offer a good deal ,?1375 fitted.

Thoughts???

Cheers everyone,

If they're Volkspares engines then you should see the trouble people have had with their air cooled blocks.

I ordered some smoked front indicators and side repeaters from them about 2 weeks ago.  They sent me one smoked and one crystal smoked front indicator, which were both for the left hand side, and forgot to send the repeaters at all.  I was not impressed with there attitude when I phoned to query my order - will definately never use them again!

The engines are volkspares units, built by chimps in south london !
But hey ! you get what you pay for !
If you want a proper engine then go to someone like TSR, but you'll pay for their expertise. Otherwise it's the Volkspares lottery.>>>>>> you may get a good engine. (and your lottery numbers may come up too) ! I've seen aircooled lumps leaking oil badly as soon as we started them, and they all breath badly too, i bought a book, read it then rebuilt my own and it was fine !!!!!
When BBT were independant back in my old Bug days they were superb, now they've gone corperate, your not a customer anymore just a number on a computer and the counter is manned by no hopers, i got more help on my wifes Audi at halfords  ??? !!!!!!!!!

Cheers everyone, looks like no one has got anything good to say about them. I'll save a bit more money & live with my smokey valver a little bit longer & give tsr a try.

Thanks again for the advice everyone.
Matt
