BBS Wheels?
« on: 18 July 2004, 12:29 »
I have just bought another GTI to go with the 1988 8 valve G(ro)TI i've already got, but this one is in great condition however it's got steel wheels and I want to know what BBS alloys were originally available as an option. There seem to be various different sorts, any ideas as I want to make this into a mint original car.

Where they the only BBS wheels available?
Also any advice on what I shold be looking for when buying a secondhand set of wheels as I've been told that BBS alloys are fairly soft and a bit prone to damage?

just added a link in the post i made before.  u just need to make sure there straight.  Any minor kinks and dinks can be refurbed out.

Im not sure if they were the only ones given as an option but they do seem the standard 'best' option. 8)

Yeah, I've seen the wheels on Ebay that's where I got the H plate low mileage 8 valver from but am bothered about getting a set that aren't straight? Any ideas how to check them out other than having a general look at them?
Wot sort of money shopuld I be looking at for a reasonable set?

yeah, pretty much like looking down a snooker cue u can see if their straight.  i would expect that any wheel not straight would have a rather large dink in it and i doubt anyone would try and sell one without being honest about it.  (ebays full of surprises though).

im not sure how much u would get a refurbed set for.  im keeping an eye on that auction as i have a set for sale myself.  Best just see how much they go for and you'll get an idea how much your gonna have to find.   marcus is selling his for 100 notes here

keep an eye on the forums, parts for sale section.  theres always bargains to be had  ;)
