brake lights staying on

mkv gti 54 plate  does anyone know if its a sticky switch or something  hopefully  lol brake lights on all the time

hi tony not too sure on this one matey but sounds like your probably rigth in saying a sticky switch or something or even a faulty switch,
id just get down into the foot well and have a fiddle about with the switch mechanism on the pedal if its accesible and maybe a squirt of wd40 or similar wouldnt be a bad idea just dont spray it on the pedal lol, sorry cant be of more help  :smiley:

lights stopped on on mine to and drained the battery car was stuck in my garage and is a dsg . could not get the bonett up to charge the battery so called vw assistance out . took him ten mins . said its the switch on the brake pedal common fault
gti 06 ... dsg,monza 18,s , leather , mfsw , center armrest , winter pack , c / control , reflex silver..!

New one I would of thought as they are a sealed unit, plus if its failed once it will again. They aren't expensive and its an easy if a bit fiddley job...

I had the same problem on my old A3, it is very easy to do. It shoud be located at the top of the brake pedal and will twist out. A replacement can be purchased from German Swedish or Euro Parts but personally I would go with gen part.

will give my dealers a ring tomorrow i took the switch off and that didnt work so i will get a new one ordered thanks for the replies

result got a new switch from delares today £8.42 fitted in 2 mins  :smiley: thanks for the replies hope i can help in some way one day
