Buy a normal GTI and remap it.  Sweet, and faster than one of the coloured lower bumper models.

No need for anniversary versions with their plaques, save your money.

Remap the 'colored lower bumper model' and that will be quicker than the mapped GTI. Whats the point in comparing modded vs standard, your trolling is getting worse and worse mate. Maybe you should go over to the vxr forum, they have quite a few trolls so you might learn a bit. Most trolls provide a level of amusement but you are just repetitively boring now.

Modding a GTI costs £430, much less than the price difference between the anniversary model and the standard GTI.
The car is then faster than an ED30 at much less cost.

True?

No it isnt faster, probly about equal BHP and then there are the other millions of variables involved. The difference between 10-15bhp is negligible, you are talking about a slight bit in front of the other car. Two cars with a second difference between them from 0-60 will have less than a car length in difference.

You clearly have some issue with the fact you didn't get an ED30, every time it comes up you wade in spouting utter tripe

The seller has just emailed me stating he needs a deposit of £3k to secure the car.
He then said he would pay off the rest of the finance?! I didnt realise the car was on finance!
He said he would clear the finance and send me a copy of the clearance letter.
I can then go and pay the rest and pick up the car.....
Does this sound right?? Hoe does this financing thing work?

£3k deposit is way too high - VW dealer wanted £250 off me IIRC.

If you're having second thoughts then walk away - another will come along soon enough - I always twist myself inside out with worry when it comes to buying a new car - but I know when it feels right.

Keep looking. :)

I was thinking of saying that i will go to his office, with the full amount in Bankers Draft.
I would then expect the full outstanding finance to be paid while i wait, and then for the deal to take place.

Does that sound reasonable?

If he agreed, how would I know if the finance had been paid in full etc?

If he doesnt agree then I'll walk. Im not willing to transfer a large deposit across to him and having nothing to show for it!

Don't make a dash purchase mate. Although you are giving it a huge amount of thought.

You know about my purchase 4 weeks ago....ED30 S/Grey 3dr 23k, 1 owner, xenons, armrest, ipod, folding mirrors, puddle lights, privvee glass & just had dealer fit cruise & sensors fitted.

All in its cost me (the wife) a tad over 14k & it is in A1 condition (edit.....was...she kerbed a wheel last Friday, they WERE all unmarked).

Good Luck
