Offer £12,500.

Your recent efforts are very poor mate, you are at least slightly amusing sometimes.

Have a recap

Cheers guys.
Went to see the car - its spotless.

It hasnt done 4000 miles, its actually done 3500!
Back seats have never even been sat in.

Inside of the car even had that 'new smell'.
Outside of the car was completely spotless. Only issue was a very, very small scuff on one alloy, which to be honest I didnt even see until he pointed it out himself!

He asked if I wanted a test drive, and I asked if he would drive instead as I wasnt insured. So he took me a mile or two, and I liked his driving style. He wasnt flooring it etc, just drove normally. Maybe thats a good indication that he's looked after the car. the fact that he sells more prestigious cars like astons, jags, ferrari's etc maybe shows he knows how to treat them....

He said that I should change the oil every 6 months to keep it in top shape. He then said that before I took the car, even though its only done 3500 miles, because it was 8 months old he would do an oil change for me as a gesture of goodwill.

I offerred him £18,500 but he said it was too low. He paid just over £25,000 just 8 months ago!!
He wanted £19,250, but I refused and told him he could let the other buyer take a look and then come back to me if it didnt sell.
After a thought he settled at £19k.

Only downside is I was expecting the VW Bluetooth - in fact it has the parrot Bluetooth installed.
It looks professionally installed, and hardly noticable to be honest - looks like it was a part of the car. However, can this work with the multifunctional steering wheel?? He said he tried to connect it but had problems, so just left the parrot seperate in the end....

He said to let him know by the end of the day if I want it for certain at £19k. He would then invoice me and give me 10 days to pay...

If I go ahead, how should I pay?? I will have all the money as Im borrowing £5k from my sis, and have £14k saved in my account anyways. He gave me his bank details and asked if I could do a bank transfer, then come and pick the car up. However, Im a bit weary of this. What if I transfer the money and he does a runner?!!

Do you think its reasonable to ask if I can do the bank transfer at his premisis in front of him, and take the keys etc at the same time?
Never ever spent this much on a car in my life. So Im thinking it over carefully.
On the one hand I think - everyones gonna be saying "Why did you spend that much on a Golf" - since they obviously dont know what an Edition 30, or DSG etc is!
On the other hand I think sod it, you only live once, and if I can get the money for it them what the hell! My sis wants the £5k back by the beginning of July as its her holiday spending money, and after selling my current car and saving a little I reckon I could pay her back by then anyways........

So thoughts please!!!

Sounds a good one mate. I would personally pay via bankers draft or indeed do the transfer electronically at the point you pick the car up. If you both bank with the same bank it should be instant... If he is a dealer, couldn't you pay by debit card?

With regards to the oil change, I wouldn't let him do that as you won't know what oil gets put in. I would rather get that done myself, but that's just my opinion... With modern engine and oils these days its a bit of a myth to change it after such a low mileage but again these are just my thoughts!

What colour is the car?

Its a steel grey.

I did say I would pay via debit card, but he didnt seem to keen on cards for some reason.
I think Im going to ask if I can do the transfer there in front of him when i go to collect the car.............if I go for it that is........hmmm..........

I think for the money your spending (and it is a lot of money!), I would rather buy from a VW dealer but again that's just me and considering your after such a new car and as proved in the posts above, other cars are out there.

Just looked on the VW website, and in Mann Egerton, Swindon they have a 08 Grey Ed30 DSG with Xenons, Arm Rest etc with 4500miles for £18995 and there are loads more on there...

I have the parrot mate, you can adjust the volume but not use the little phone symbol. This doesnt bother me as the parrot is much quicker with the wheel anyway! Mine is next to the gear stick and dont even need to look to answer now!

Sounds like you got a minter!

Already enquired about the one on the Swindon site - its a demo car which is now on over 10,000 miles. Even though its mor ethen doubled the milleage they wont budge a penny on price!

Buy it, you're only here once

And get the factory bluetooth kit from Stu (do a search on this site) which will work with the MFSW:wink:

How much is the factory Bluetooth kit?
Do you think it would be worth removing the parrot and going for the VW Bluetooth kit??

Just over £200 I seem to recall. It's a genuine VAG/Skoda part but works fine. The only issue IMHO is that it doesn't use the phone button on the MFSW, it's the mute button that gets coded to operate the device.

Your choice - I actually had a Parrot system but I sold it before installation and bought the OEM unit as I wanted a factory, not aftermarket look.
