ECU chip requires soldering - who?
« on: 13 March 2009, 18:40 »
Right, i am gonna be buying a chip for spice up the gti, and i have been in contact with the guy who is sorting me out with one, and as my ECU number finishes in 025A, it requires soldering rather than the push fit type.
I am going to try and see if my electronics teacher at college can silder the new one in for me, but if not, where can i take it to have it soldered on for not very much money?
I am in the bournemouth area, any place local that does these sort of things or where can i take it that they will sodleor it on?

Your best bet is the electronics teacher as they can be hard to change.

if you have the equipment at college or where ever why dont you have a little practice yourself and if your any good do it yourself. As long as you know where its got to go and which pins need soldering, soldering in itself is really not hard, can just be a bit fiddly!
